Where can I get Technical Support?

Linux Mint's purpose is to produce an elegant, up to date and comfortable GNU/Linux desktop distribution.

Some of the reasons for the success of Linux Mint are:

  • It's one of the most community driven distributions. You could literally post an idea in the forums today and see it implemented the week after in the "current" release. Of course this has pros and cons and compared to distributions with roadmaps, feature boards and fixed release cycles we miss a lot of structure and potentially a lot of quality, but it allows us to react quickly, implement more innovations and make the whole experience for us and for the users extremely exciting.
  • It is a Debian-based distribution and as such it is very solid and it comes with one of the greatest package managers.
  • It is compatible with and uses Ubuntu repositories. This gives Linux Mint users access to a huge collection of packages and software.
  • It comes with a lot of desktop improvements which make it easier for the user to do common things.
  • There is a strong focus on making things work out of the box (WiFi cards drivers in the file system, multimedia support, screen resolution, etc).

Live Media Info:

Available Live Media includes USB Flash Drives, Secure Digital (SD) Cards, and Compact Flash (CF) Cards. Some advantages they have over a CD or DVD are:

  1. Linux Mint can run entirely from the Live Media drive without changing your computer.
  2. Changes you make when using Live Media Drives are automatically stored on the Live Media drive, so that it functions as if it were an actual installation. Changes such as desktop preferences, installing additional software, etc.
  3. Live Media Drives can be used in any computer that can boot from the selected Live Media type, you are not tied to any one computer.
  4. Can also be used to install Linux Mint on your computer, as well as in windows using the windows installer, so not only can you carry your computer around in your pocket, you can also use it to install Linux Mint for your friends.

Please see our Live Media Information Page for more information about the Flash/SD/CF devices used, warranty, support, requirements, and backup options.

Shipping Information:
Flash Drives,  SD Cards, and CF Cards are ordered from distribution weekly, and normally ship from On-Disk.com in 1-7 days.

Please note: $5.41 from every Linux Mint order shipped is given to support the continued development of Linux Mint. We are proud to offer our support and encourage you to financially support Free and Open Source Software development.

Requirements

A minimum of 512MB of RAM is recommended. Once installed the system works fine with as low as 256MB RAM. The installation process deals with 2.5GB of data compressed on a 700MB CD and it can hang or fail on systems with less than 512MB RAM. If you have between 256MB and 512MB RAM you may have to try to install several times.
