Product Details
This is a "Shelf Ready" package suitable for personal use, event demonstration, or donating to libraries. This packaged version was created by the Public Software Foundation for use in public libraries or other lending institutions.
Ubuntu is a complete operating system for your computer, and is often used instead of Microsoft Windows because Ubuntu:
- Can cost hundreds of dollars less.
- Has virtually no spyware or virus issues.
- Can still run on older computers where newer versions of Microsoft Windows won't.
- Has free and paid support available.
Ubuntu, the same Linux operating system now offered on new Dell computers, has several "wizards" like are commonly found in Microsoft Windows to help along the way. Ubuntu has been describes as being more like what Microsoft Vista promised to be in early designs but fell short of actually attaining. Ubuntu, or any of it's variations, should be fairly easy to use for anyone who has ever used a Microsoft or Macintosh computer.

Ubuntu 9.04 PSF Edition is the Ubuntu 9.04 desktop release on a standard Live Installable DVD with all system and application updates applied. It is completely up to date as of June 1, 2009. Waiting until several key updates were in place has allowed for a much better PSF Edition, and much better firs-time user experience.
Additional Software: The only additional application is Remastersys Backup which allows you to make an re-install/restore DVD containing all the applications and settings on your computer. It can also be used to make a live CD or DVD of your running system and is what we use to create the Live Installable updated releases.
