Generations Linux is a GNU/Linux distribution that boots and runs completely from DVD/CDROM media. The run environment is a merger of available memory and a read-only image making system modifications possible seamlessly. When used with external USB storage (or a network drive) one can backup and then restore a customized system time and time again.

At the core is Linux 2.6.11 kernel with XFS support. Included is the KDE 3.4.2 desktop environment, OpenOffice.org 2.0 office tools, rich multimedia applications, graphics utilities, games, software and web development, USB/Firewire hotplug, access to many filesystems including: FAT, NTFS, XFS; Internet/Intranet clients and servers, and much more.
