Product Details
This is the
Complete Ubuntu
Software Repository on 5 DVDs as of October, 18th 2007
for use with all
Ubuntu
7.04 Based Operating systems including Ubuntu,
Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Studio,
Linux Mint,
and
Symphony OS.
What this means
is the thousands of software applications available for Ubuntu can be
installed directly from the DVDs using the same Add/Remove Applications
(Synaptic Package Manager) that you normally use.
This is perfect for any
Ubuntu user with a slower internet connection, or no connection to the
Internet at all.
Notes:
- The 64 bit
(x86_64) Ubuntu Repository is now available as well as the
32 bit (x86).
- The x86 version listed here will work on both 32 and 64 bit
PCs where the x86 Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu
Studio, or other Ubuntu 7.04 based distribution
is installed.
- The 64 bit version will only work with 64 bit computers
with a 64 bit (x86_64) installation of Ubuntu, Kubuntu,
Edubuntu, or Xubuntu.
- The repository DVDs were created by mirroring the Official
Ubuntu
repositories then building the DVDs from the created mirror. This work
was undertaken by
Webpath Technologies.
Usage:
- Open "Synaptic Package Manager" directly, not the
"Add/Remove..." menu item. Normally Synaptic is found
under "System" in the main menu. If for some reason
Synaptic is not installed, you will need to install it first
or use the terminal method as described in the notes below.
- Click the "Edit" menu item at the top then on "Add
CD-ROM..."
- Select the option to add another disc until they have all
been added. You will be prompted for the correct disc
when they are required during software installation.
Notes: (1) In some instances you may need to symlink /cdrom to the
correct device. This usually happens if you have an odd hardware/drive
configuration or if you have removed additional hard drives from your
installed system. (2) Instead of the procedure above you can open a
terminal and use the command # sudo
apt-cdrom add
Please note: $4.50 from this Repository set is given to support the
continued Development of Ubuntu. We are proud to offer our support and
encourage you to financially support Free and Open Source Software
Development.
