CDriveBack is a Live CD which backs up and restores information on hard drives, normal, Linux, Windows and other drive formats. 

Being a live CD, it will run directly from your CD drive, requiring no installs.  It will even allow you to back up files if your operating system has failed. 

CDriveBack takes a full backup initially, a "bare hardware" backup except for the partitioning.  Subsequent backups are fast differential backups involving only new and changed files.

All you need to do is put the disc in your CD drive and re-start your computer.  Then just follow the dialog screens that manage backup files on your drives. 

You can back up files across partitions, such as from a Windows partition to a Linux Partition or to external drives. 

Compression of files is automatic with the data being broken down into "slices" 140 Megs.  5 slices will fill a 700mb CD when burning back ups.  Or about 34 slices to burn a Single Layer DVD. 

CDriveBack can back up older Windows drives as well as Linux formatted drives.  For XP/Vista CDriveBack uses NTFS-3G, the NTFS Drive handling package.
