which can be
ran in Live mode from the DVD. The Repository can also be
accessed
running in Live mode from the Repository DVD, as well as with either
a hard drive installation of Wolvix Hunter 1.1.0 or Wolvix Cub 1.1.0,
or When running in Live mode if the computer has a second DVD drive.
Please note:
Installing Wolvix Cub 1.1.0 can be done from the DVD, but you will need
at least 5Gig hard drive space. If you prefer a smaller installation
you can use the CD version. The CD version, after installing, can
still be used with this Repository DVD to install additional software. How to use the Repository DVD:
(These instructions are also printed on the DVD, but the
letters are quite small. You may ned a magnifying glass to read them.)-
Find where the repository in your DVD drive is located by opening the
File Manager (Thunar) and clicking the "Wolvix" CD icon on the left.
Then:
- Open the "wolvix" directory then
the "wolvix-1.1.0" directory.
- Select
the "View" toolbar menu item at the top and go to "Location Selector"
and select "Toolbar Style". This will give us the full path to the
repository that we can copy and paste. Go ahead and select the path
that shows at the top and copy it (ctrl-c)
- Under
the System menu open the "Gslapt Package Manager", and then select the
"Edit" menu at the top and click on "Preferences".
- If
you are only using the DVD and not external Internet repositories it
would be best, and much much faster) if you would unselect any
currently enabled sources in the list before continuing.
- In
the Preferences window select "Sources" at the top, and in the
"SOURCE=" box put the full path to the repository that showed in the
File Manager (ctrl-v to paste it). Because this is a file system and
not an Internet repository you'll need to put "file://" before
the
path, and a trailing slash / after it so Gslapt will know
where to
find it. For example: file:///mnt/hdd/wolvix/wolvix-1.1.0/ (remembering
to add a trailing slash / at the end). Click the ADD button and then
the "OK" button at the bottom, and reload the package list when
prompted. Now you can add software at will, just remember to insert the
DVD first.
How to use the Repository when
running Cub from the LiveDVD:Follow
the instructions above, except for #1. Here you will need to look for
the "live" directory on the DVD to find the "wolvix/wolvix-1.1.0/"
directory. For example: /live/mnt/hdd/wolvix/wolvix-1.1.0
Note: If you are
working from a
hard drive installation, you can Alternately you can copy the
contents of the wolvix-1.1.0 directory from the DVD to your hard drive
and set the path name of the source to the location where you copied it.Please
